Earlier this summer, Elon Musk spoke to the National Governors Association Summer Conference in Rhode Island about adopting solar energy to power the entire country. Making the switch from our current power supply to a renewable power supply will not be easy or quick, the scale of this initiative is otherworldly and will take time, but it is viable.
Musk placed emphasis on this not resting solely on the shoulders of utility-scale and rooftop solar power operations, especially in the early stages, geothermal, hydro, wind and nuclear will be required for a “transition to a sustainable situation” without shorting energy to certain regions of the country.
