The EPA announced today that it would be enforcing stricter regulations on carbon emissions. These regulations come along with the goal of a 30% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030.

What is unique about these regulations is that they give a variety of options to states regarding the method through which such a goal can be met. Of course, at the most basic level, the new EPA regulations call for companies to reduce carbon output. However, it also gives companies the option to use green initiatives to offset their carbon footprint.

Could this mean federal/state incentives for recycling?

It most certainly could. As a furtherance of the EPA push towards greener companies and industries, companies could see a future benefit from recycling. Recycling can help conserve energy which, according to a recent EPA study, accounts for the majority of greenhouse gasses produced in the United States. Transportation is significant, as it agriculture and deforestation, however energy usages accounts for more than half of the US carbon footprint.

More Recycling Means Less Energy Used

Using old resources to create new ones, that is what reduces energy usage and that is what Cleanlites does everyday. By diverting important resources away from the landfill and towards sources where they can be reclaimed and reused, Cleanlites is effectively aiding in the fight towards less carbon emissions.
